How to start your project with HWA Architecture

First step:

Introduction

Reach out with a phone call or email to arrange a

no cost 30min no-obligation meeting with Hamish about your project.

I will offer some high-level insight on the potential of the project and for achieving your goals. From there I discuss how we may be able to assist and who else may be needed.

After this meeting, if we are a good fit we can progress to a Pre-Design Review phase.

The introduction will usually take place at your project site; however we do have in-person meetings at my office or video conference meetings for offshore clients and where there are remote or challenging sites.

Second step:

Pre-Design review or Pre-Design

For those who are unsure about the feasibility, potential or costs of undertaking a building project, engaging me for Pre-Design review helps to avoid common project challenges, particularly the cliche 'over time and over budget' scenario.

Pre-Design review is deliberately low cost so I can explore and provide credible feedback to the questions all clients have, such as:

  • Can we achieve what you need on our site?

  • What planning or building restrictions are relevant for your site?

  • What risks or hazards should we be aware of?

  • When is the best time to build?

  • How much might the project cost?

  • How much might the permissions component cost?

  • How long might each phase of the project take?

  • Who else needs to be involved?

Knowing this before agreeing to the full process has saved clients hundreds of thousands of dollars and often many months of time.

For clients who have a strong idea of what they want and are ready to go, we will move straight into a formal Pre-Design Phase.

What our clients say:

Vista Cres Multi-unit

Conversion of an existing house into two apartments

This is the second project I've engaged HWA for. I wouldn't have gone back if I wasn't happy the first time - and this project has been just as successful. Happy to (and frequently do) recommend HWA - just as long as he doesn't get so popular and busy that he can't work on my next projects.
